

Welcome to the historic 80+ year old and infamous lower east side "169 Bar" (aka "Bloody Bucket", "Bucket Of Blood") located on the edge of chinatown at Essex and Canal and only a 10 minute walk south on Essex from Houston and Ave A (169 East Broadway, "F" Train stop). The 169 Bar specializes in in-house music consisting New Orleans type funk (aka Meters et. al.) and its prodigy, amoungst others... "Deep Funk" rare grooves and jams. Also Mose Alison, Big Band, Be-bop, Latin, and sometimes Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra, French go-go music from the 60's, Tom Jones, Elvis, Bridget Bardot, LuLu, Nancy Sinatra, Serge Gainbourg, Leonard Cohen & Surf.
After Happy Hour, 169 Bar hosts a variety of live musical performers of local and international talent specializing in acoustic music of all genres: world, funk, r&b, folk, latin, jazz, bluegrass to name a few.
Late night after the performers check the shedule for our guest DJ line up spinning an eclectic blend of the above plus 70's, 80's, 90's & 00's.
Open from 4pm to 4am with happy hour everyday. Specials include the "Truckers BJ" (PBR and a shot) for $3!! and buy one get one for wine, well & beer. In addition we offer "infusion" special drinks and shots, consisting of banana rum, peach, pear, apple, blueberry, orange, & lemon vodkas. We feature Peroni & Paulaner draft beer, Horin Gekkeiken Sake' by the bottle.
Original special 169 Bar drinks include the "Bloody Gargoyle" (Le Tourment Absinthe, fresh lemon juice, and a red wine float) Frozen regular or creamy "Apple Bubba" (infused apple vodka, one half of a vodka soaked apple, Baileys)
Pool table, darts and a fish named "Jeff" who will chase your finger like he's a puppy and stare into your soul...yes, he's a fish...no, you wont believe it.
